BQPS-I is KE’s oldest power plant, commissioned during the period 1983 – 1997. A major investment under the Generation Long Term Improvement Plan was put in effect for BQPS-I units to achieve potential and sustainable benefits in the plant’s efficiency, reliability, availability, and capacity. This plan envisaged overhauling of turbo generators, upgradations of control system with state-of-the-art facilities, rehabilitation of boilers, and other modification works for obsolescence management to achieve business continuity requirements.
