Karachi Power Supply Remains Stable During Ongoing Monsoon Spell

June 28, 2025 – Karachi continues to experience gusty winds and intermittent showers as part of the ongoing monsoon spell. Despite sustained medium to heavy rainfall across the city and its outskirts, the power supply system has remained largely stable. Over 1,800 of K-Electric’s 2,100+ feeders have continued to operate without interruption on the second day of the spell.

At the peak of the downpour, particularly over the past 24 hours, around 300 feeders from KE’s extensive network were temporarily affected. The majority of these were swiftly restored after receiving safety clearance from field teams, who have been deployed across the city and are working around the clock.

Imran Rana, Spokesperson for K-Electric, stated, “As a safety precaution, KE temporarily suspended power in select low-lying areas and on circuits with a high prevalence of theft through illegal hook (kunda) connections in order to prevent any untoward incidents. Restoration efforts began as soon as conditions allowed, with the majority of affected areas promptly re-energized thanks to the tireless efforts of our field staff.”

With centralized monitoring of both weather patterns and the power supply situation, KE’s operational teams remain on alert. The company’s management is also closely coordinating with civic agencies and the city administration to ensure a timely and effective response as weather conditions evolve.

“We urge citizens to continue exercising caution around electrical infrastructure,” added Imran Rana. “Avoid contact with low-hanging TV and internet wires, entangled cables, streetlight poles, and wet switches to stay safe during and after the rains.”

For electricity-related emergencies, customers can contact KE via its 118 call center. For individual complaints regarding power supply, customers may also reach out through the KE website, KE Live App, KE’s WhatsApp service, and other social media platforms.
