Transmission Enhancements

The following grid stations have been added in the system since 2018

Initiatives

To leverage the surplus capacity in the National Grid, KE has successfully commissioned the 500kV KKI and 220kV Dhabeji Grid Stations, enabling additional power off-take. These strategic projects not only bolster Karachi’s power supply but also help ease transmission constraints in the National Grid.

Under the 900MW BQPS-III flagship project, KE has further strengthened its transmission network by upgrading two critical load grids and two generation interconnection grid stations. These enhancements improve system reliability and accommodate our growing industrial and commercial needs.

Transmission Expansion Plan by 2030

  • 6 new 132kV grid stations
  • 3 new 220kV grid stations
  • 595 MVA of added capacity at 132/11kV
  • 2000 MVA of added capacity at 220/132kV

KE remains committed to delivering a future-ready power infrastructure, ensuring that our customers continue to thrive with a reliable and sustainable electricity supply.
